because of reasons: computer art collection

Computer Arts Collection is a six-part annual series put together by the same people who publish Computer Arts Magazine, considered to be the leading magazine for designers, illustrators, and creative professionals. During my stint at a local design school over my summer break, I’ve had the school’s beautiful library at my disposal and done as much reading up and browsing through of the books and magazines as possible. There is a full section of the library dedicated to issues of these magazines and this year, four out of the six parts of the Collection were in the library by the time I joined them, namely on Graphic Design, Typography, Illustration, Branding, Photography (which just arrived), and  Advertising (which isn’t out yet). Each 226-page magazine is released every eight weeks and focuses specifically on the topic and area, and it packed with studio profiles, tutorials, and more.

You can get an idea of what each magazine contains on the inside over here and even see a fifteen-page preview from the first two magazines.

As someone who is interested in the area of design, this magazine is wonderful for all the reasons because it’s really inspiring. It tells you all about the industry, key industry players, the kind of work they do (some of which are campaigns that you’ve seen yourself!), and it also helps you with your skills- with guides, lists, and tutorials. I’m also pretty sure this is an important magazine for those already in the industry, and the resources it provides are phenomenal.

I’m going to miss having these magazines to read on my bus trips to work. Their website (below) is great as well – relevant, resourceful (and by that i mean full of resources), and most definitely “the essential read for the modern designer”.

do you have reasons!
